Empowering Women’s Economic Power
Marie Lagrue
Expert in women’s financial education and economic empowerment
Women have been taught to be independent.
It is time to teach them how to build their financial power.
Like many women, I grew up believing that financial independence meant having a job and earning my own money.
The generations before us fought for women’s right to work, to have control over their own money and to take their place in the economic world.
This legacy is precious. Today, it is our turn to carry this progress forward: not only by earning our own money, but by learning how to understand it, grow it and build our own wealth.
Because financial independence is the foundation of freedom.
For a long time, the economic world felt distant and inaccessible to me.
A world filled with complex language and unwritten rules that seemed to belong to a few insiders, even though they affect every one of us.
Until I realised that understanding money was not just about numbers.
It was about serving my own interests. It was about having the ability to fund my dreams, make my own choices and create the life I wanted.
Taking an interest in your finances is not about loving spreadsheets or being passionate about figures.
It is about understanding that no one can better protect and defend your own interests than yourself.
Giving women the keys to their economic power
Through my journey and years of experience working with women, I have uncovered a reality shared by many: economic inequalities between women and men are not only a matter of income.
They are built throughout life, influenced by our knowledge, our beliefs and the cultural, social and educational barriers that shape our relationship with money.
Women still accumulate significantly less wealth over their lifetime than men.
Building women’s economic power is essential to creating a more equal future.
My approach is built on one essential belief: before discussing financial strategies, we need to understand our relationship with money, rebuild confidence in our ability to make decisions and learn how to build wealth aligned with our ambitions.
Because money is not only about wealth.
It is about having the power to choose.
This is why I created the Money Women Mentor method, built on three pillars:
-
the psychology of money,
-
financial education,
-
and economic equality between women and men.
I work with women, women entrepreneurs and organisations through keynotes, workshops, training programmes and tailored journeys.

Financial education:
a key to economic empowerment
Financial education is not just about learning how to manage a budget or understand numbers.
It is about understanding your money, making informed decisions and developing the ability to shape your own future.
Yet, this essential skill is still rarely taught. Our relationship with money is often shaped by our family background, our education and the beliefs we inherit from those around us.
Building financial literacy means learning how to earn, manage, save and invest your money, while also understanding the emotions, behaviours and systems that influence our financial decisions.
Taking an interest in your finances is a personal journey. The impact, however, extends far beyond the individual.
Money Women Mentor offers financial education and coaching services for women.
